The Centenary

October 17th was a very special day for Meadowbank school. It was because it was Meadowbank school's 100th birthday. Before the centenary, we were all practicing singing lots of songs for the celebration. We were singing in front of all the past pupils of the school and adults of the children now. I was enjoying the singing. After the long singing the elderly people did a speech to us. I really enjoyed the song called Rock'in Robin. There were lots of songs that I like alot.

After the speech we sang happy birthday to Meadowbank school and chopped the cake.
The cake was huge.
The cake looked yummy!
After that we had lunch. (at school.) Their was sausage sizzle, pizza and ice cream! After that  we took a big photo.
That was a very special day for us.

Spuiggle story

Once there was a family living next to the sea. There were 3 children in the family. They were called Domnic, Tim and Olivia.

One day Tim saw a some kind of fish's fin in the sea.

Then Domnic shouted: "It's a shark!!" So they told their Mum, Dad and Olivia. They were very surprised.

So they called a man that knows all about fish to come to their house. He had that job for 24 years.

An hour later the man came to their house. He looked very old. In his bag there were lots of things that could make sharks go away. he said the shark was called a Hammer Head Shark. He hooked something onto a rope. The thing that could make sharks go away. Then he threw the rope into the sea. The Hammer Head Shark bit the rope and went away but didn't come back. Then the family didn't see the shark at all anymore.

Why I am a awesome student

Hi I am Sora, I am now going to tell you why I am awesome. It is because I am responsible, helpful and good at art.

 Firstly why I am awesome beacause I could make and draw good arts.
I am very talented in drawing views and painting with using lots of colours.  I am also great at origami and I have been art extension at school. I feel so proud of my self by looking at what I have created.

Secondly, I am awesome because I am helpful at school and home. I help to give some ideas to my classmate if they are stuck on thier work. I also help junior student if they are crying or got hurt. I also help the earth by joining the Envirofronz. I help my brother and sister's homework. I help my mum to find her belongings.

Finally, I am special because I am responsible for lots of things. I am responsible to look after Junior students for bridge in the gap. I am responsible for my awsome art work to surprise people. Being responsible is very important when we become year 6.

Overall, I am so lucky to be responsible, being good at art and be helpful to others. Being special makes me to help others.

The Big Consert

On October 11th Sora and his family went to Auckland city to watch a big concert.

They went to listen to the music. The orchestras was holding on to a instrument.

The music was all classic. It was their first time to the concert.

The music was all interesting. The Violins had the most part of the music

There were Flute, Drums, Trombones, Tuba, Saxophones, Trumpet and the main instrument was Violin.

Sora and his family was surprised when they saw the instruments.

Sora and his family's favourite instrument was the Saxophone. The Saxophone had the similar sound as a Trumpet.

A Saxophone has a really good sound.

Sora and his family's favourite music was called "American on Paris". It was a very long song.

The Saxophone started the song then the flute then the main instrument violin started the music.

It was a good music for relaxing.

We have been told that Sora and his family had fun and enjoyed the concert.

The mysterious principal

On a bright sunny morning there were two students named Sam and John. Their teacher told them to go and tell Mr Ayson something. She said " Tell Mr Ayson that we have a leek in our room ". When they opened the door to Mr Ayson's office, Mr Ayson wasn't in his room.

The next day of school Mr Ayson was still not here. Suddenly the mysterious principal replaced him.

His name was Mr B. He had a big black coat on him.

All of the students thought that Mr Ayson was much better. This is because Mr B didn't like sun light, So he changed a lot of rules. Now school is in night. Students were not allowed to go out in the sunlight. They were also not allowed to play outside. Everyday all the doors were locked but the only time the door is open is in home time.

The next day Sam and John were very worried for Mr Ayson. So they went to check Mr Ayson's room.
They looked under the desk and behind the curtain. Then John heard a knock on the cupboard. They both opened the cupboard and there he was!

Mr Ayson was tied with a rope. So John and Sam chopped the rope and Mr Ayson jumped out from the cupboard.
They went out and went to find Mr B. They opened the blank room. It was supposed to be blank but the vampire was in there. It was Mr B! Mr Ayson started chasing Mr B in till he was out of school. So the vampire flew away and didn't come back.

Mr Ayson was happy to be a principal again. So the school had a celebration for him.

School Trip Letter

Dear parents and caregivers ,

On November 3rd we will be going on a trip to the wild life park .

The kids will need :  

• packed lunch
• drink bottle
• rain coat/umbrella

They can also bring $5 dollars to spend if they would like .

We will leave at 9:10 am and arrive back at school  at 3:45 pm on coaches. We suggest that you shouldn't bring glass bottles because they might break. If you would like to be a parent helper select here and bring it back to school as soon as you can.

My Speech

The Black Hat

Once there was a boy called Sora. Sora loved Origami. Once he was very bored so he went outside and went walking through the forest. One day he found a dusty Black hat. So now Sora was going to keep the dusty black hat. Sora placed the dusty black hat on his head and it was perfect for him. So he was wearing the hat for a long time.

One night when Sora was asleep a magical thing happend to the hat. It did a sparkling and a booming sound with origami birds flying out in the room full of sparckly shiny papers. Sora woke up and got so suprised and he did want to keep them for ever. So Sora left it in the room. Next time there were more origami birds and more and more sparkly shiny papers in the room.

In the next day there were no origami birds and no more sparkly shiny papers. This time there was a dancing vegetables. There was a carrot singing, a radish that had a feet and little peas giving out tiny foods.

"What a funny hat" he thought. So he also joined in the dance and lived happily ever with the dusty black...
Hat!!!

The bridge

Once upon a time there was a dear and a bear. They were going through the bridge. The bear was coming from the left side and the dear was coming from the right side. They bumped together and they both got so so angry. They both wanted to make there own way to go through the bridge. Behind the bear there was a raccoon. The raccoon bumped on the bear and the raccoon got angry. He told the bear what to do but the bear did not listen. The bear got his neck and threw him over the bridge and he hit the ground so hardly. The raccoon got so so so angry. Then the rabbit came and bumped on the dears back and the rabbit told what to do and the dear got the rabbits ear and kicked the rabbit over the bridge and the rabbit got really angry too. So the bear and the dear got to a big fight again.

A second later in the left side of the bridge the rabbit chopped of the left side rope and the raccoon in the opposite side was un-doing the left side rope as well. So the rope got off the wood so the deer and the bear dropped to the river. Now the raccoon and the rabbit went through the bridge and looked at each other and thought what they can do. So the raccoon had an idea how the rabbit could go through. So the raccoon bent down and the rabbit jumped over him and they solved their problem and went past the bridge happily. But the dear and the bear did not do the right thing.

Cyber safety

Once there was a boy called Sam. He was bullied every day. He was sad and lonely. He also get a letter from his classmates and it always says a bad sentence and he does not want to read it.

He once went to help mum to put away rubbish in the coboard and Sam had a big amount of letters in a bag to put away.

The bag had a big hole so the letters went flying around a and dropping on the floor. His mum readed the letter and she knew why Sam is so sad. So she told the principal and the principal was so upset.

So now the classmates understand and they begin to be friends.

The cloudy lesson

This is a story about the shape of clouds.

The boy was climbing up the ladder so slowly. The ladder was so wonky. His grandpa got out his Own stisk out of the case very carefuly  and slowly.  The stick was shiny as a dancing star in the air. His grandpa showed him how to make a cloud. Firstly the boy did it but it was small as a hand ball it was not enough breath. His grandpa said to make your tummy much bigger than the ballon. So the boy  tried it. He made my big tummy  and blew my breath out as a storm but the boy went to close.

The boy  tried again and again but  it didn't work so much. "bang!" A second later the boy fell of to the ground and something bad happend. The stick was cracked in to half. His grandpa was so sad. Then the boy looked through the hole carefuly. Then he got an idea. The idea was to make any shapes. So the boy made it in to a star and gave it to his grandpa and blew some air through the holes. Then it made it into a big star. The star was flying away and going round and round like a mouse. He also made into a rabbit and gave the stick to his grandpa. Then the rabbit stayed as still as a carrot. Lucky last the boy blew out a heart that was cute as a cuddly little puppy!!!


The end!

The catch

I was sitting still as a mushroom. Then my fishing rope rakes and I got afraid. I heaved my rope back and got out a little fish for the village. I turned sad and put in the fish in the basket. I got even more sad and lonely and wished to get a bigger one. I turned away and looked saddly to the village.

I heard a snap behind the bush and i wondered what it was. I looked through the bush and saw my grandpas old trap and there was a fox traped in the trap!! I feel sad for the fox so I got out my knife and chopped of the rope. The fox  seemed so terrifyed. Then the fox tryed to defend his self. The fox was jumping on me and I thought he was trying to kill me. A minute later he smelt something nice and went over the bush. It was a fish that I caught! It was the fish that I caught today. Then the fox ran away. The fox went under the bush and the spike was very sharp.

The fox went through the spike and I did too. I was very angry. When I went through the spicky bush the fox went under the log but he wasn't in the log. He came out from the hole and jumped on me. Then I chaced the fox all around. He climbed around the rocks so I did to. I feel I was going to fall on the ground. On top of the rocks I saw a a big sea full of fishs. I was very suprised. The fox gave me a stick to me and I thought he was trying to help me. So I made my fishing rod went fishing. It was night time so I gave a fox a little fish and went back to the village. I feel very happy. The village had a big party eating a great dinner. Then the fox was happy and disapared to the clouds.

My goal reflection

Writing: I now how to edit my work and make it better. I used a worksheet that says how you can edit and how we can add in full stops, commas and underline the word. My next step is to get ideas and describe the words. I had to make my writing longer and make it interesting.

Clocktower

One day in a light blue sky there was a girl called Ella that was in the clock tower. She had nothing to eat. Once at night
there was a fairy that wanted to save her.
She said "We can make a new gear"
"Yes please" said Ella.
The fairy was making the gear all over again but it didn't work. So the fairy made a machine that move herself. She had to use her wand to make the machine. But she didnt know the spell. So the fairy went back home. She got the spell book  and went back to the clock tower. The spell worked but she didn't have a gear.
The fairy had an idea of cutting the girls skirt and it worked so good.
Ella was saved and had her good view out side. Ella went every where in the world and also she meet her family. Ella loved the world so much and she lived happly ever after.

My hand made paper handbag

I made a paper handbag. It took about 7 hours , this is a very long time.
It was so much fun for me and it was so amazing because I made it from my hands!!!!!
It is very strong and very cute. My sister loves it.

My goal reflection Key competency

I have achieved my managing self goal. 

I improved on having tidy work because my handwriting got better and better. My next step is to concentrate on my work because I sometimes get distracted.

My goal Reflection Reading

I have improved on skipping the word and come back to it when reading so that I know what it means I would check how to spell the word too. I know how to do this because I read some books and I always think and come back to my word and find out what it means.

I can chunk letters and sound it together based on patterns I know. I can come back to my words and chuck the letters out and sound it out from my mouth.

My goal reflection Maths

I have achieved on grouping within 1000.

Example: 655+?=1000

I know this maths because I was doing this at home and was practicing my problems.

I improved on being faster at subtracting facts to 20 because I was practicing it on mathletics and extra math.

Camping at Goat Island!!!!

Goat Island

In a early morning I was so excited to go to the Goat Island camping ground. Firstly, I was getting ready. I put torches and sleeping bag in my bag. My mum was making sushi. We were all settled so we started moving. We were going out at 10'oclock. When we were  driving to the Goat Island camping ground it took us about 1 hour. When we were there you would see lots of mini cottages. I was going to sleep at the top of the cottages. At night we did a BBQ party. But the bad thing was that it was freezing cold. It was cold as a snow.

Glass Bottom Boat

Me and my Mum thought of a great idea to go to the Glass Bottom Boat. The Glass Bottom Boat was going around the Goat Island and coming back. We were going boat and there was a glass on a bottom of the boat. You get to see a lot of fishes like Eagle Rays, Goat fish and snappers. The snapper was finding foods by swimming with their beautiful fins.

Blog bingo: Camp

Goat Island

 In the holiday we went  camping at Goat Island. My best friends were coming too. Thier names are called Ichigo, Honoka and Sota.
When we got to the camping ground there was a little house that  looks like a tree house. It is a cottage.
When we went inside the house you would see a colourful wall and lots of windows.
I was asking if I was allowed to sleep upstairs with my sleeping bag.
For dinner we did some BBQ. Sota was making fire on the coal, it was taking a long time to put fire so I helped him. After that we started baking. We baked some delicious lamb and yummy beef. My Mum made some yummy curry with warm rice. My little brother loved it so much!
 The next day in the morning it was so windy so I thought we can do some kite flying at the field. Sota, Ichigo and me were doing some kite competition. It is the competition of who can throw the kite up high as you can. I was hard but I won.
We also played a game of tea ball and I got a home run. It was awesome!!!
Glass Bottom Boat

At last we went on a Glass Bottom Boat.
We got to see lots of sea creatures because there is a glass in a bottom of a boat. We were going around the Goat Island and finding fish. Firstly there was a spotty fish. It was called a Goat fish.
I do not know why that the goat Island has no goats!
We also saw a lot of snapper. I think they were
 looking for food. Did you know there are lots of caves in goat Island, one was called a penguin cave because there are blue penguins living in the cave but there are only about eight blue penguins living in the cave. There was another cave called a shark cave because they have lots of spiky rocks at the top. There were two eagle rays hiding in the seaweeds and a black fish. 
   My favorite part of this camp was throwing a kite to the sky because it was my first time doing it!!

Soccer Game!!!

I made a soccer game.  Firstly I made a rolled paper and used to move the people for kicking a marble, people made of ice block stick and paper is from colourful ORIGAMI paper.

I used a countdown box, cut the box side of the edge and when you finished cutting the box I put the green paper on top of the box for the soccer field .

My special crafts

 

This is speical to me because this was my best wire craft I made. I love arts and craft but always my hands start to get red. I made two wire trees and one cup cake holder.  

This is also special to me because I made a Peacock Feather by wire, this is my idea!!  I used red wire and I used nippers to cut it.

I made a cage and birds. Birds were made by acorn and some coloful feathers.
The cage was made by wire.

This is speical to me because I used card bourd and I got burnt by a glue gun! My mum made a bird and I made a house for them.








Today I made a flax fish that were made by a strong flax.
The flax was from my garden.

 

Youth town

 Last week on Wednesday we did Youth town for E.O.T.C. Firstly our teacher did the roll. Then we got in to groups and lined up.

 Archery

For E.O.T.C firstly we did archery. The man who is so good at archery told us instructions. I thought it was easy but it felt so hard. The arrow was very big and it was about my size. The man said the arrow has a pretty sharp sting at the top and it also can be dangerous. Firstly we did a practise and it was my turn. I was so embarrassed I shot into the bullseye. We had a competition and I only missed one arrow.

Flintstone cart building

Next we did Flintstone cart building. Firstly we listened to the instructions,then we started. We had to know how to tie the rope on to the bamboo and make it strong for the body part of the cart, otherwise it would be dangerous.  This cart can be ridden by three kids. We all had an idea so we started making it. We used two blue tyres. We put a bamboo in a middle of the hole of the tyres which makes it more strong and tight. The body of the cart was made of bamboo. It was so cool.  We finished making the cart and it was very strong and faster. When I rode on the cart it was so cool with the wind. I enjoyed in riding the cart.   It was very fast and very fun.

 Problem solving

We went to do some problem solving. Firstly we had to line up and play mine field. We had to jump on a rubber mat that was a circle shape. When you got it wrong they say "boom!" because the mine will explode. After that we played pegs. We had to clip the pegs on our shirt and take somebody's pegs of their shirt. If you have the most pegs you are the winner. Next we played the puzzle game. We had to be in two even groups. There were two packs of coloured puzzles. It was yellow and blue. Firstly we had to hide all the puzzle pieces and find them fast as you can. Then you had to make a square with the puzzle.

 Tipi building

For the tipi building we used tarp, bamboo and rope. We had to go in to three groups and we started making it. We used a rope for tying and tarp to cover it. I thought if we put the bamboos a little wider and tie in some extra rope, it would be better.

 Walkie talkies
At last we did walkie talkies. We used walkie talkies to talk. Firstly we listened to the instruction and we started talking.
After that we played a game by talking on the walkie talkies. We used paper and pen to write. The walkie talkies are fun but it was hard to use.

I feel so grateful because I loved the archery and I also liked Flintst

Term 1 reflection

1. What did you enjoy most in the term? Why?
I enjoyed E.O.T.C because I liked climbing up the Rangitoto mountain and my best one was youth town.

2. What did you enjoy doing most in the classroom? Why?
I enjoyed drawing the Rangitoto mountain because I like sketching and painting.

3. What have you found hard in your learning this term? Explain.
Writing because I don't edit my work so I really need to work on how to edit my work.

4. What are you most pleased with in your learning? Why?
Math because I like to solve the problem and I also like to make my own problem. We had learnt how to use place value strategy.

5. Tell us one thing you would like to learn about in Term 2.In term 2 I want to know how to use punctuation in my writing.

My A-Z

I am a arty boy who loves being creative and drawing.
At E.O.T.C my best things were Flintstone cart building for Youth Town. Also I enjoyed playing the crocodile game because I liked solving the problem. For Rangitoto we went hiking on long distance(Whoops, I have to explain my little sister's name, she is called HANA).It was a cloudy day so I didn't get burnt. I went to Lava Cave with Jacob who is my class mate and a kind boy. I learned that the Rangitoto Mountain erupted long long time ago.We had lunch after we climbed up the Mountain. There was a very native forest. We could see the Ocean from the mountain. It was so beatiful and peaceful and also very quiet. During walking it started raining.
My name is SORA. My Teacher is called Ms. Cooper. On the way back I thought there was Dolphin under the sea. It was very windy on the top of the ship.It was Xtremly good trip. My little brother is called YUME. I have ZERO percent power.

1. How are you feeling after EOTC week? Explain.

I feel tired because we did lots of things like climbing up the Rangitoto mountain.

2. What did you enjoy most during EOTC week? Explain.

I liked Youthtown because I liked archery and building Flintstone cart building.

3. What was your least favourite thing about EOTC week? Explain.

My least favourite thing in E.O.T.C was marae because I hate gardening.

I learned how to be safe in the pool.

I am feeling amazing because it is going to be a great trip.

I am looking forward to Rangitoto because I am excited of what we are doing.

No because all of them are exciting.

No there isn't because they are all fun.
